William Neil Gabbeitt

Burlington-William Neil Gabbeitt, 82, of Milton, passed away February 2, 2022 in the University of Vermont Medical Center. William was born on September 7, 1939 in Burlington, VT, the Son of William Gabbeitt and Florence (Blanchette) Gabbeitt. He married Rose Boucher on April 30, 1960 at St Joseph Church in Burlington. Bill was a Aircraft Maintenance Engineer at Logan Airport for 44 years. Upon his retirement, he moved back to Vermont, and its beauty. He reconnected with his childhood friends, including Patrick Malaney. He loved reminiscing about summers at Camp Holy Cross and his youth. In his retirement, he enjoyed the outdoors and taking pride in his home and lawn. To those who know Bill, he did enjoy the Boston Sports Teams. Bill was an avid golfer in his early years of retirement. He was very active in the Knights of Columbus, Knight Bishop Rice Council #2946 and a member of Bishop Rice Assembly # 1793. Bill held the following officer positions in the third degree: Chancellor and Faithful Pilot and Trustee in the Fourth Degree. He is survived by: his spouse of 61 years Rose; his daughter, Linda Devarenne, of Concord, NH and his son in law Paul Devarenne of Concord, NH and their two children Joseph Devarenne and his wife Zara Devarenne and Thomas Devarenne; his daughter Karen Gabbeitt Sullivan and her husband David, of Elliot, ME and her children Colin Abbott, Caitlyn Veenstra; his 3 great-grandchildren; his brother Michael Gabbeitt, of Burlington. He is predeceased by his father, William Gabbeitt; mother, Florence Gabbeitt; sister, Barbara Barrett. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday February 10, 2022 at 11 am in St. Ann Church followed by the burial in Resurrection Park in South Burlington.
