William "Danny" Brooks

February 19, 1947 — June 10, 2021

Colchester, VT--William "Danny" Brooks, 74, passed away peacefully, with is family by his side, on June 10, 2021 at The McClure Miller Respite House. Danny was born on February 19, 1947 in Burlington, NC, the Son of Billy Burl Brooks and Valeria (Swain), who predeceased him. Guitars, Cars, and Football were central to Danny's life. A talented musician, he spent his youth playing drums and moved on to plucking chords on strings later in life. He could be found as the center of attention picking and singing at gatherings large and small. A self-tought auto body technician, Danny spent a majority of his life restoring cars for a living. From classics to domestics he put the same amount of care and precision into every job he did. But it was on Sundays where he really reveled. A Washington Redskins fan since his youth, Danny would spend each fall Sunday glued to the television watching the action on the gridiron. Hail to the Redskins was second only to the Star Spangled Banner for stand up and sing songs. Later in life he would extend that passion of Sunday sports to NASCAR and the PGA. Switching between event to event, he loved them all. Despite missteps taken in his younger years, Danny proved to be an inspiration and guide to many souls who may have felt lost and provided needed guidance or a shoulder to lean on. The immeasurable outpouring of love for Danny in his later days by so many is a testament to the amount of lives he touched as a beacon of hope and redemption. He left us with the peace and fulfillment that he worked so hard to help others achieve. He is survived by his children, Joseph (Lynn) Brooks, of Milton, Lindsay (Chris) Hughes, of White, GA; his grandchildren, Kaleigh Bruce, Natalie Hughes, Emily Hughes; his beloved siblings, Leigh Alsop, of Venice, FL, Debbie (Victor) Foote, of Cobb Island, MD, June Flynn, of Cobb Island, MD, Joseph (Kendra) Collins, of Charlotte Hall, MD, Shelly Collins, of Cobb Island, MD, Michael (Karen) Collins, of Cobb Island, MD, Lisa (Dean) Stephanos, of Rockville, MD, many nieces & nephews and countless friends. Visiting hours will be held starting at 10 AM with a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 19 in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton, VT with a graveside service to follow at St. Ann's Cemetery in Milton.
