Walter Edward "Ted" Green

November 18, 1926 — April 17, 2023

Saint Albans, VT--Walter Edward "Ted" Green, formerly of DeLand, FL, 96, passed away peacefully, April 17, 2023, at The Villa Rehab.

Walter was born on November 18, 1926, in Danbury, Connecticut.

He married Fanny Morgia on May 2, 1954, they spent 53 years as husband and wife until Fanny sadly passed away on April 3, 2008.

Ted was a paratrooper in the Army during WWII.  In 1954 Ted and Fanny started a flower shop, greenhouse, and nursery business in Mount Kisco, NY where they ran the business together for 20 plus years. While in Mount Kisco, Ted was also a member of the Rotary club for many years.  After retirement Ted moved to Florida where he stayed in the landscaping field working on golf courses beside Arnold Palmer. This endeavor led him to meet and become good friends with golf pro champion Gene Sarazen and even accompanying him to two Masters Tournaments.

Ted always had a love for sports, as a child he had the honor of meeting Babe Ruth. In high school he played football, when living in NY took his children to NY Rangers hockey games, and later in life liked watching The NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He was also a part of a bocce league and played golf when living in Florida.

With Ted's many years of owning and operating the flower shop and greenhouse he acquired an amazing green thumb. Leaving him with the best-looking yard and gardens on the street and the most beautiful fruit trees, flowers, and vegetables.

He is survived by his children, Bart Green and wife Karen of Milton, and Carol Green and spouse Doug Wade of Palmer, AK; his grandchildren, Kyle Green and wife Joanna and their children Karly and Ashton of Southington, CT, and Hayley Green and husband Florian Cech of Vienna, Austria; several nieces and nephews; lifelong friend Marion Compe; special cousin, Robert Green and family; and many friends from his younger years.

He is predeceased by his wife, Fanny Green, and his brothers, Arthur, Phillip, and Alec Green.

Ted's family would like to extend a special thank you to The Villa of St. Albans Staff for their kind and loving treatment of Ted during his stay.
