Milton —Thomas A. Horner, 79, of Milton, passed away at McClure Miller Respite House on April 19, 2023, surrounded by his family.  

 

Thomas Horner was born on March 3, 1944, in Adams, Massachusetts, to Alfred Horner and Florence (Herrmann).

 

Tom earned a degree in Chemistry from the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, and later worked at IBM, where he met Maxine Joyal, the love and joy of his life. On May 24, 1980, Tom and Maxine were married at the Community Bible Church in Burlington, Vermont.      

 

Tom was a man of faith, enjoyed traveling, was a skilled photographer, appreciated all kinds of art, and enjoyed skiing in the winter. He had a green thumb and loved anything to do with plants and his beautiful gardens. Tom/Grampy was an extraordinary man who cared deeply for everyone and, above all else, valued the time spent with his family.

 

He is survived by: his wife of 42 years, Maxine Horner; his son, Douglas Edwards, Sr., and his wife, Grace of North Hero; his grandchildren, Douglas Edwards, Jr. and his wife, Wynter of North Hero, and Erica Newton and her husband Brant, and their three children, Kaia, Milo, and Liam of Sheldon; his brother Robert Horner and his wife Jane, of Massachusetts and his sister, Judi Horner of California.

 

He is predeceased by his parents Florence and Alfred Horner.

 

Arrangements are under the care of the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center, Milton. A private memorial service with the family will be held at a later date.
