Theresa Smith

Theresa Smith, a beloved mother and friend, was born on September 11, 1941, in Burlington, Vermont. With a warm heart and a gentle spirit, Theresa brought joy and laughter to the lives of many. Sadly, she departed this world on June 28, 2025, in the comforting care of Elderwood Nursing Home.

Theresa was the cherished daughter of Florence Kimball and Lewis Francis, who have preceded her in death. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert Smith, as well as her dear siblings: Francis, Marlene, George, and Richard Ward, all of whom will be waiting for her with open arms.

Throughout her life, Theresa exemplified love and compassion, particularly through her profound love for animals. She understood the unique bond that exists between humans and their furry companions, and this passion was a hallmark of her character.

Theresa is survived by her devoted children: Brian Francis, Danny Francis, Tommy Francis, and Michele North, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and love. Her family will always cherish the countless memories made together, the lessons learned, and the unwavering support she provided.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Elderwood Nursing Home, specifically the Champlain side, and also the amazing team at UVM Home Health & Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Theresa during her final days. They understand that such kindness is precious and hope that it continues to uplift others just as it did for her.

A visitation to honor Theresa’s life will be held on July 17, 2025, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton, Vermont. Friends, family, and all whose lives she touched are welcome to come together to share in the remembrance of a remarkable woman. A graveside service will take place on July 18, 2025, at 1 PM at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Burlington, Vermont, where we will lay her to rest.

As we celebrate Theresa's journey, let us remember her kindness, her laughter, and her love for all living beings. Though she has moved on from this earthly life, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.
