Colchester - Stanley D. Henry died peacefully in his home on December 25th, 2021. Stan was born in Monroe, Louisiana on December 29, 1924, the son of Pete and Pearl Henry. Stan was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific theater of operations during WWII. He married Jeanne Baraw of Johnson, Vermont in Enosburg Falls on February 21st, 1946. Among other careers, Stan spent many years as a Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a man of many interests and talents, including painting, machinery, antiques, woodworking, metal working and history. Stan was a man of intelligence, integrity, compassion, humor and humility, who never disappointed. He was an active member of The American Legion, Seneca Lodge # 40 F&AM, Scottish Rite, the Milton Historical Society, the National Rural Letter Carriers' Association and the Civil War Round Table. He is survived by his daughter Lorinda of Milton, sons Leslie (Lillian St. Hilaire) of Colchester and Michael (Deborah) of Underhill. His grandchildren are Woodrow Henry of Milton, Katherine Siobhan Henry-Hooker of Burlington, David Henry of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Elizabeth Savage-Hooker of St. Albans and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne Henry and a grandson, Daniel Henry. Visiting hours will be held at the Minor Funeral Home in Milton on Saturday, January 8 at 2 PM, with a celebration of Stanley's life to follow, beginning at 4 PM. Face masks will be required.
