Scott Kevin Hill

Essex Center - Scott Kevin Hill, 66, of Essex Center, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on August 22, 2026. He was born on May 11, 1960, the son of John Andrew Hill I and Beverly Grace (Myott) Hill.

Never one to shy away from hard work, Scott began his working life while still in high school as a farmhand at Holmes Farm in Essex. After graduating from Mount Mansfield Union High School in 1978, he went on to deliver fuel for Gordon Fuels. He later spent 23 years driving dump trucks for Patterson Fuels, bringing a long and hardworking career to a close.

On June 3, 1989, Scott married the love of his life, Jackie Rak, in the backyard of his parents’ home in Essex. As dedicated as Scott was to his work, he also knew the importance of a good laugh. He had an incredible sense of humor and loved sharing laughter with those close to him. At the end of the day, there was no better way for him to unwind than by listening to his favorite country songs.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie Hill; his siblings, Dawn Fleury, Kim DeForge-Cronin, Beth Gordon, and John Hill II; his stepchildren, Meredith (Doug) Carr, and Laci (Justin) Flanagan; his brother-in-law, Jeff Barbour; and many extended family members and friends.

Scott was predeceased by his parents, John and Beverly Hill; his brother, Greg Hill; his sister, Julie Barbour; his grandfather, Sanford Myott; and his close friend, Roger Fleury.

Per his wishes, there will be no visiting hours and a private burial will take place at the Essex Center Cemetery
