Sandra Jean “ Candy” DePaul

Milton, VT--Sandra Jean "Candy" DePaul, 72, formerly of Essex, passed away peacefully from pancreatic cancer, March 21, 2023, taking with her a collage of beautiful memories thanks to family, friends, coworkers, and a lifetime of everyday contacts. 

Candy was born on November 30, 1950, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Peggy and Walter Simmons.  After a few short years in Pennsylvania, she moved to Essex, Vermont which remained her home until 1971 when she married Michael DePaul, Jr. Michael and Candy had two children Melissa and Michael III (Tuff). She spent her days at home with her children until they reached school age then spent most of her working life employed at Merchants bank. 

Candy spent summers at her family's camp in her early years and enjoyed swimming, water skiing and walking the shoreline. She had a love for animals and was a member of the hospital candy stripers, Sica Court, and treasurer of the Rod and Gun Club for a time. 

She is survived by her husband: Michael; her mother-in-law Shirley DePaul; her children, Melissa and husband Marc Pelkey, and Tuff and his partner Jackie Hathaway; her  two sisters-in-law Sharon Simmons and Wanda Bushey DePaul; brother, Stephen, and his wife Elizabeth Simmons; half-brother, Rick and his wife Sallie Dixon; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Candy is predeceased by her parents, Peggy and Walter Simmons, her father in law Micheal Depaul, Sr. her brother William Simmons and her brother-in-law Jeffrey DePaul.

Keeping with Candy's wishes there will be no services and an internment will be held at the convenience of her family. 
Candy's family would like to thank all the wonderful folks at UVM oncology and Home Health & Hospice for the comfort and support they provided.
