Sally Ann Young

Sally Lombard Young, went home to her Lord and savior on Wednesday November 17th, 2021, at the age of 81 in Milton. Sally was born in Burlington, the oldest child of Emile and Katherine (Bushey) Desranleau. She grew up in Milton, attended Milton High School and graduated from the Elie Beauty Academy in Burlington. Sally owned and operated Sally Ann's Beauty Salon in Milton for several years. She married Alton Lombard of South Hero on October 6th, 1956 and together they had four children before his tragic death in 1961. She married Robert George Young, her best friend and partner for life on August 28th, 1965. Sally, Bob, and the children moved to the Young's family farm in Canonsburg, PA where she spent the next twenty-seven years; raising her children, horses, dogs and sheep. Sally and Bob started Plum Dorsets & Romneys showed sheep for many years along the Eastern Seaboard, gaining many friends and awards along the way. She owned Sally's Wool Basket, a spinning and weaving shop. She was active in the Washington County Spinners and Weaves Guild. She was also a member of the Washington County Sheep and Wool growers and was instrumental in forming an auxiliary to the Pennsylvania State Wool Growers, becoming its first president. In 1996 she and Bob moved back to Vermont to be closer to family. Bob predeceased her in 2001. Sally is survived by her children Alton Lombard II of St. Albans, Andre Lombard and his wife Julie of Milton, Maria Gifford and her husband John of Milton, Sonia Morgan of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kai Parks, and her husband Brian, Monica Reinker and husband Dan, Joel Lombard, Forrest Lombard, Victoria Lombard, Rachael Lombard, Michaela & Olivia Lombard, step-granddaughter Jennifer Kerns, step-grandson Nathan Borst, by her great grandchildren Dominic, Hailey, Lauren, Rachael, Michael, Sophia, Ellie, Renae and Robert. For those who wish, contributions in Sally's memory may be made to the Samaritans Purse or charity of choice. A private burial will be in the family lot in St. Ann's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
