Obituary of Ruth May Marcoux

Milton - On November 13, 2020, Ruth May Marcoux, 96, passed away at her daughter Bernadette Murray's home, with her loving children by her side.

Ruth was born on February 17, 1924 in Milton, the daughter of George and Lillian (Murray) Lombard and was a lifelong resident of Milton.

She attended Milton schools and on April 6, 1942, married Joseph Henry Marcoux Sr. Together they ran a dairy farm for several years. Being a remarkable cook, she prepared and delivered meals to some of Milton's one room schools and continued with the school's hot lunch program for 17 years. As a hard worker she held many interesting jobs, working in the cheese department of the Milton Cooperative Creamery and the offices of Fassetts Bakery before becoming a Quality Control Inspector at the Champlain Cable Corporation. Upon retiring, she became an Avon dealer for 25 years.
She was a charter member of the Milton Grange, UVM Extension Home Demonstration Group and Ladies of St. Ann Parish in Milton. People will always remember her for the lovely crocheted snowflakes she put in everyone's Christmas cards. Mom always had a blessing for everyone that passed by the house and waved to everyone from the window where she sat. We will always remember our Mom and Dad dancing together and know they will be dancing again up in heaven, especially to the song "Blue Suede Shoes".

She was predeceased by her husband Henry Marcoux Sr. in 1979, her son-in-law Kenneth Schwenn in 2014 and her great granddaughter Courtney Tousignant in 1998.
She is survived by her four children: J. Henry Marcoux Jr. and his wife Sheryl, Elizabeth Schwenn (Franklin "Red" Manning) partner, Bernadette Murray (Charles Visi) partner and Marie Bartlett and her husband David. By her grandchildren: Peter (Corinne) Marcoux, Tina (Kenneth) Bucklin, Lynda (Mark) Camire, Judith Schwenn (Carol) partner, Kimberly (Andre) Messier, Nicole (Scott) Tousignant and Jessica (David) Smutek. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Savannah, Darik, Matthew, Rachel, April, Sophia and Joshua.
