Russ Morgan

December 18, 1958 — November 3, 2023

Milton

Russ Morgan, a loving husband, and father passed away on November 3rd, 2023 in Milton, Vermont. He was born in Vicenza, Italy December 18th, 1958. Russ was admired and respected by all who knew him and would quickly gain a dear place in the hearts of everyone he came across. Russ had an uncanny ability for reading people; While also knowing what they needed and how to make them laugh. At home, Russ loved projects and making sure things were just right, always adding more  to his lists as he went, often with groans from his family.

While serving in the Army, Russ Morgan took courses toward an Associate's degree. He began working as a service engineer in the Army, a career that he continued after leaving the military. Russ worked for many companies over the years, in Colorado, Mississippi, and Vermont.

Russ Morgan married his wife Barbara Lynn Morgan in August of 1985 in a park in Colorado surrounded by friends and family. Russ and Barbara lived in Colorado together for 17 years before moving to Mississippi and settling 3 years later in Vermont to be closer to family. Throughout Russ’s career but more importantly his life, he had a passion for problem solving and was often the first call when things went wrong. Russ touched the life of every person he met, with a strong work ethic and kind-hearted nature he left an indelible mark on those he encountered, never failing to leave a smile and the echo of laughter behind him. He was adored and well-remembered by many staff at the hospitals he worked in, including UVM and many others in Vermont and New York.

Russ was never much of a cook or baker, but while working during the 2020 shutdown, he noticed staff seemingly forgotten despite the time and risk they took caring for patients; Because of this  Russ went home and learned to bake, making cookies and many other experiments. He began putting together care packages, dropping them off at the hospital, and shipping them to those he loved. It became a frequent occurrence for the house to smell of baking and the table to be covered in cookies and boxes ready to go out.

Russ is survived by his wife Barbara Lynn Morgan; Ian Michael Morgan, Daughter Brianna Jennifer Morgan Douglass, and her husband Samuel Adam Douglass. Russ is predeceased by his Son Brian Elijah Morgan.
