Rosalie Ann Larose, beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend passed away peacefully at her home in Milton on September 6th, 2023. She was surrounded by the love of friends and family and the memories of a life well-lived. Rosalie’s boundless generosity, fun loving spirit, and kind heart touched the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on March 6, 1938, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Rosalie was the daughter of Florence Poirer and Frank Maleno, a first generation American from Italy. Growing up with her brother Frank Maleno Jr, in their close-knit neighborhood she learned the values of compassion from her mother, and resilience and hard work from her father.
Rosalie’s caring nature led her to a career in healthcare, where she served as a dedicated medical technician over many years for multiple institutions including North Adams Hospital, Deaconess Hospital and Mary Fletcher Hospital.
Rosalie married her beloved late husband Gerard Mitchell Larose in 1961 and together they had three children: Gerard “Pete” Larose, the late Anthony Larose, and Christopher Larose. Rosalie’s love for her sons knew no bounds and she took pride in their every achievement. Rosalie was a dedicated mother who offered unlimited love and endless support for her children throughout her life. After raising three sons, she was blessed later in life with the gift of six granddaughters whom she greatly loved and enjoyed watching over, and taking out to lunch and spoiling with shopping trips.
Rosalie’s generosity and caring went beyond her family and extended to not just friends but also her community. Throughout her life she touched countless lives in a variety of roles including grief counseling, advocating for the elderly, and her years of volunteer work at Vermont Catholic Charities and St Ann’s Church to name just a few. Her deep-rooted faith in God was a guiding force that led her to make a positive impact on all those in her life. With her warm smile and open heart, she welcomed everyone into her life, sometimes even opening her home to those in need.
Rosalie was also a fun loving, free spirit and anyone who met her could immediately see her love of life shining through. In her youth she enjoyed skiing, riding motorcycles and was an avid belly dancer. Later in life she found joy in numerous excursions and neighborhood parties with her friends and was an active member of the Red Hat Society.
Rosalie found fulfillment in connections and truly cherished every moment spent with family and friends- sharing stories around the dinner table or simply offering a listening ear during times of need.
To honor her memory and celebrate her life, visitation services will be held on September 26, 2023, from 5PM to 7PM in the Minor Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Milton. A funeral mass will be held on September 27 at 11am in St. Ann Church, Milton. Rosalie Larose’s legacy of love, compassion, and dedication will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a world that is richer for having had her in it. May her memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of crossing paths with this extraordinary woman.
Rosalie is survived by her sons Gerard “Pete” Larose of Dallas, Texas, Christopher Larose and his wife Jill of South Burlington, her daughter-in-law Heather Larose of South Burlington and her six granddaughters: Hannah, Alyssa, Taylor, Jordan, Malena and Macie.
In addition to her sons, Rosalie is survived by beloved family and friends who will hold onto the memories they shared together. Though she has passed on from this world, the love she brought into their lives will endure forever. May they find solace in knowing that Rosalie’s spirit will always be with them during times of both joy and sorrow. Please join us in celebrating the remarkable life of Rosalie Ann Larose, a woman whose legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those who loved her.
