He is survived by his loving wife, Koreen, his son Christopher, and daughters Aimee and Heather Grimes. He was blessed with five grandsons whom he adored: Austin Amos, Cooper Papin, Garrett Grimes, Samuel Grimes, and Maxwell Grimes.
Rod was born, raised, and lived the majority of his life on the Vermont side of the Champlain Valley. He was predeceased by his parents John and Grace Grimes of Greensboro, NC. His six siblings: Donna Harnish, Brenda Norton, Gregory Grimes, Tina Pepi, Peggy Furr, Jeffrey Grimes, and their families will all miss him deeply. He was especially fond of his dog, Alfie, who was always by his side.
Rod had worked and ultimately retired from IBM after 29 years. He met many great friends at the Essex plant including his wife, Koreen.
In recent years, Rod was confined to a wheelchair after an accident that left him with a shattered leg. The lack of mobility didn't stop him. Just months ago, he and Koreen, with the help of family members, packed up and moved south to Greensboro, North Carolina to escape the cold winters of Vermont. He found recent pleasure in the ongoing construction of their new home, but he has a much better home now with his Heavenly Father.
