Obituary of Richard H. Dupont Sr.

Milton - Richard Henry Dupont Sr., 73, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday April 10, 2019.

Dick was born on September 22, 1945 at the Fanny Allen Hospital in Colchester, the son of Romeo and Rita (Soutiere) Dupont.

On January 22, 1966, he married Marie Atherton at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Burlington.

Dick worked for several years at General Electric in Burlington and served in the Army National Guard. He was also the Scoutmaster of Troop 603 for over 12 years and was very involved in Milton Football, helping to build and maintain the football field, property, and equipment

With a sarcastic grin, Dick would say "My name is Dick, and I live by it."

He was a big-hearted man, an independent Vermonter who could figure out how to build and repair anything. He built the home for his family and cut all the fire wood to heat it. He could always see how the pieces fit together or the best way to get something done. Dick raised four equally hardworking, independent children, with whom he generously shared his wisdom. His grandchildren, he spoiled with chocolate chip cookies.

Dick is survived by his wife, Marie, of over 53 years, and their children"Richard "Rick" Dupont Jr. and his wife Sheryll of New Hampshire, Laurie Dupont-Sherard and her husband Shawn of Milton, John Dupont and his wife Ela of Milton, his daughter-in-law Blair of Colorado. He is also survived by their grandchildren Mercedes, John, Katrina, Haley, and Chris"as well as his great-grandson Cooper. He is also survived by his sisters Joyce Bombardier and her husband Come', Joan Perras and her husband Bob, Joanne Kinne and her husband Phil, all of Swanton, Nancy Rousseau, Sue Coulliard and her husband John, all of South Carolina, and his brother Bruce Dupont and his wife Lucille of Colchester, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and by his son James.

Well loved, Dick will be missed. Good bye, love you.
