Raymond Thibault, a cherished member of the community and a beloved family man, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Georgia, Vermont, with his family by his side. Born on September 14, 1937, in Colchester, Vermont, Raymond led a life filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring connections.
For many years, Raymond dedicated himself to his career as an electrician with General Electric, where he was known for his skill and reliability. Beyond his professional achievements, he was profoundly proud of completely renovating his own home, displaying a hard-earned commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail that mirrored his approach to life. After his retirement from GE, he continued to work for Ray Piche General Contracting until his true retirement.
Raymond was not just smart; he had a unique charm that endeared him to those around him. He took great joy in being the favorite uncle, sprinkling humor and light into every gathering. His personality shone through in his love for Bluegrass and old country music, while evenings spent watching westerns on television became a comforting routine. He was a social soul, known for drawing people together, and he cherished the time he spent gardening, cards, dominos, and enjoying the winters in Myrtle Beach. It was there that he bravely took up the challenge of learning to play golf, embracing the experience with his characteristic humor, even if his swing didn’t quite measure up to the task. As a proud member of St. John the Baptist Club, he fostered connections that contributed to the vibrant tapestry of his life.
Left to honor his memory are his loving spouse, Gloria Thibault; his children, Michelle Thibault, Monique Haupt, and Damien Thibault and his wife, Jennifer; as well as his grandchildren, Shelly, Hallie, Cullen, Dylan, and Elliott—who provided him with endless joy and his grand-dog Cooper. He was also anticipating the arrival of his great-grandchild, Henrik, who would have added another layer of happiness to his already rich family life. Raymond is survived by his siblings, Robert Thibault and his wife Yvonne, Jeannette Blow, Romeo Thibault and his wife Monica; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Thibault and Brenda Thibault. He will be missed by his Excel Physical Therapy friends.
Raymond will be mourned by those who remember him not just for his kindness and comedic nature but also for the light he brought into their lives. His parents, Laurana and Onesiphore Thibault, have preceded him in death, along with his siblings, L. Edmund Thibault, Sylva Thibault, Theresa Bourgeois and her husband Joseph, Aline Bernard, and Leonard Thibault.
The remembrance of Raymond will be celebrated at Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton, VT, where visitation will be held on June 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass in his honor will be held at Ascension Church in Georgia, VT, on June 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in Georgia Plains Cemetery.
As we reflect upon his life, we are reminded of the countless memories created, the affection shared, and the legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. Raymond Thibault lived his life with a spirit that will echo through time; he will remain loved and missed by many.
