Raymond A. Shortsleeve Jr a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 3, 1950, in Burlington, VT, Raymond was a cherished member of the community, remembered for his warmth, kindness, sense of humor and passion for life.
Raymond was deeply devoted to his family, which included his wife Kathy and children, Lisa Heathe (husband Kenny), Mindy Vigeant (husband Tom), Myra Page (husband Rodney), Raymond Shortsleeve (wife Teresa) and David Shortsleeve. He found immense joy in being a father and took great pride in the lives of his family.
His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, as well as one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought him immeasurable happiness.
Raymond's life was enriched by the bonds he shared with his siblings—Judy, Mary, Susan, Jenny, Julie, Sally, David, Joe, Donald and Stevie—creating a tapestry of love and camaraderie that will remain woven into the hearts of those he leaves behind. His many nieces and nephews were also a source of pride and joy in his life.
A man of numerous interests, Raymond was a former member of the Eagles Club and the Moose Club. Raymond enjoyed activities like bowling, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed quiet evenings with his family and friends. He was known for his adventurous spirit and for creating lasting memories with loved ones, especially during hunting trips with his best friend and hunting partner, Moe Bascom.
Raymond's life was shaped by the love he showed to others and the friendships he fostered. He will be deeply missed by his friends throughout the community who were touched by his gentle spirit and caring nature.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Shortsleeve Sr. and Mary Moquin, his brother Randy Shortsleeve, as well as his father-in-law Cornelius Racine and mother-in-law Shirley Racine. Their memories will forever be a guiding light for those he leaves behind.
Visitation services will be held on September 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center located at 237 Route US-7, Milton, VT.
