Raymond "Ray" Ellery Stokes, Jr.

Raymond “Ray” Ellery Stokes Jr., a beloved member of the Milton community, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023, at the age of 68. Born on June 26, 1955, in Saint Albans, VT, the son of Raymond Stokes Sr., and Rosalind [Hill] Stokes. Ray brought immense joy and warmth to the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a man of great character and integrity. He was a dedicated member of his bowling league, where his competitive spirit and friendly nature made him a favorite among his fellow bowlers. The softball field was another place where Ray showcased his athleticism and passion for the game, playing proudly for the Trackside Softball team. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were the Yankees and the Giants.

Ray will be remembered not only for his achievements and contributions but also for his unwavering love and support for his family and friends. His family lovingly refers to him as the heart and soul of their family. His infectious laugh, compassionate nature, and genuine interest in others' well-being will forever be etched in our hearts.

He is survived by the love of his life; Gloria Stokes of Milton, his children; Cindy (Richard) Gardner of St. Albans, Jennifer (Jason Barton) Stokes of Burlington, Karen (Jason) Beaudoin of Colchester, Sarah (Chad King) Stokes of Sheldon, Jessica Stokes of Essex Junction and his grandson/honorary son Jon Stokes, his siblings; Kathy Johnson of Spanaway, WA, Dale (Charlene) Johnson and their son Darrell of Colchester, 16 additional grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren plus many more friends and family members.

Ray is predeceased by his parents, Raymond Stokes Sr. and Rosalind Stokes.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Minor Funeral Home in Milton on November 24^th, 2023, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm with a Prayer Service immediately following with Father Feltz. A committal service will take place the next day on November 25^th, 2023, beginning at 11:00am at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Milton. A celebration of life will be held after the burial,  from 1-5 at the elks lodge  925 north Ave. Burlington VT 05408
