After a long battle our dear, sweet Rachel was brought home to be with the Lord on July 24 at UVM Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones.
The oldest of the four sisters (collectively known as The Shea Girls later in life), Rachel was born in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin to Ruth (Carlson) Mayville and Jeffrey Mayne. After moving through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Maine, Rachel set down roots in Franklin County, VT where she graduated from Bellows Free Academy, St. Albans, in 1997.
Rachel poured her heart and soul into everything she did, from her many years at The Abbey Group, to all of her work with the Franklin County Field Days and Operation Happiness. No matter what kind of pressure she was under, you could always count on Rachel to greet you with a warm smile. Rachel would do anything for anyone, from the least of us to the greatest of us. She was widely known and loved for her generous and loving heart. She was absolutely the hostess with the mostest! Putting on events was one of her super powers! Living in Maine, and her many travels to the ocean built a deep love for the ocean, sea shell hunting at low tide, and both cooking and eating seafood. Her greatest love, however, was her family, especially her two sons, Evan and Connor Judd.
She loved her boys more than anything else in the world. Even in her last days, her only requests were around keeping her boys happy and comfortable. Rachel was so deeply loved by her family, and although we know that she is walking with Jesus and finally no longer suffering, her early departure from this world has left us with a heart wrenching pain.
Rachel is survived by: her two boys, Evan and Connor Judd, her parents, Ruth and Bill Mayville, her sisters and their families, Maria and Shane Noel and their children: Zoe, Kalie, Riley, and Harlie. Peggy Shea, her partner Kobe Bromfield and her daughter Bella. Kelli Shea, her partner Pete Howrigan and Children: Gavin, Mason, and Lucy. Her step brother Bill Mayville and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Minnesota.Rachel was predeceased by her biological father Jeffrey Mayne, Grandparents: Ralph and Marie Carlson, her step sister Emmy Mayville, and her stepfather Joe Shea.
