Pamela J Heald, born on February 18, 1947, in Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Joseph J. Heald, and the beloved daughter of her late parents, Maurice Preston and Bernice White Preston. Pamela is also preceded in death by her brother, William W. “Bill” Preston, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
Throughout her life, Pamela enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family. This was evident in her love of family gatherings especially around the holidays where everyone would always look forward to going to “Joe and Pam’s” for Christmas eve festivities. Including the traditional Yankee swap shenanigans.
Throughout her life, Pam was involved with her community in various ways to assist however she could. She was a daughter of the American Revolution (DAR) member and served as the treasurer of the Milton Historical Society for many years. In her spare time, Pam enjoyed playing Mah-Jongg and bridge with her friends on a weekly basis.
Pam graduated from Milton High School in 1965 and went on to Champlain College. She graduated from college in 1967 and began her career with the Federal government Social Security administration where she would spend 42 years helping others.
Pam is survived by her loving family, including her late husband’s children Lisa K. Heald and partner Kyle E. Williams, Joseph J. Heald and wife Jill Hamlin, James S. Heald, Debra Colburn Heald and their two daughters Jenna M. Heald and partner Nick Vance, Loralee R. Heald and husband Josh Hoy, her sister, Karen B. Preston Brigham, and brother-in-law, Rodney Brigham, their two children Eric R. Brigham and wife Mary Beth, His children Jefferey, Christina, Jacob, Joel, Laila, and Laila’s mother Mary Schliecker, Jennifer (Jayce) Brigham Franzen and husband Chris Franzen and their two daughters Payton Franzen and Arianna Franzen all of which were touched by her in many different ways throughout their lives.
In addition to her beloved family, Pam’s dear friends Mary McEnany and husband Fred, John and Eileen Sonnick, and many others who cherished her friendship.
She also loved her many Golden Retrievers (Marky, Darby, Katie, Abby, and Buffy), who were part of the family.
The family invites friends and community members to join them in remembering Pamela during visitation on September 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM to include a short memorial service at the funeral home, followed by a burial service at graveside at 1:00 PM and reception to follow. Events will be held at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center located at 237 Route US-7 South; Milton, VT 05468.
While her presence will be deeply missed, Pamela J Heald's spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched. Her legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
