Obituary of Muriel Joyce Dattilio

Muriel "Joyce" Dattilio, 84,passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, December 15, 2017. She was born on February 17th, 1933 to Hildreth Livingston and Helen Katherine Johnson

Joyce grew up in Manchester, VT and moved to Burlington, VT where she attended college. She attended the Mary Fletcher School of Nursing and spent 9 years as a nurse upon graduation. During her time in school, that is where she met the love of her life, Michael. They soon got married in 1954 and ended up being together for 60 years.

While Joyce enjoyed nursing, she was passionate about volunteering and helping those in need. She was extremely active at All Saints Episcopal Church where she was an organist for several years. She also helped with their annual Bazaar by baking many of her famous pies and goodies. Joyce also gave a lot of her time to Meals on Wheels and helped collect money for the Cancer Society every year. She especially enjoyed visiting homes around her area to play music.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and always made too much food on the holidays. She spread her love of music to many of her children and grandchildren. You could never leave her house without singing by the piano while she played. One of her favorite things to do was to spoil her grandchildren. She was caring, kind and passionate about everything she did and she always did it with a smile on her face.

She is survived by her daughters, Katherine Sylvain of Concord, NH, Karen Dattilio, husband Craig Hill of South Burlington; her sons, David Dattilio of Burlington, Dana Dattilio and his wife Kim, of Hinesburg and Dominic Dattilio and his wife Laura of Georgia; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Michael Dattilio; her son Cosmo Dattilio andtwo sisters.

We also would like to thank the UVM Medical Center, Spring Village and Burlington Health and Rehab for caring for her during her final weeks.

As per Joyce's request, there will be no visiting hours.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2pm at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1250 Spear Street, South Burlington, VT.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church in memory of Joyce.
