Lorri Lee (Pottenburgh) Dunn
Lorri was born in Rhinebeck, NY on February 16, 1956 to Olive and Roland Pottenburgh. She graduated from Red Hook Central School in 1974 and married Frank Decker of Tivoli, NY that same year. In 1978 they moved to Vermont, working in Burlington for Saga Food Service. In 1979 they welcomed their daughter Corey Lynn into the world and divorced by 1980.
Lorri worked for IBM where she furthered her technical education. After IBM, she worked many jobs before starting a home catering business in the early 90’s. In 1993, Lorri leased the Windridge Bakery building from Alden Bryan to open her restaurant - Dinner’s Dunn - on main street Jeffersonville, VT.
Lorri strived for excellence in all of her endeavors. She showed her love and care through food; cooking for her community, and customers from all over the world, for over a decade.
When Dinner’s Dunn’s closed in the early 2000’s, Lorri went on to become a food buyer for a local distribution company. After her retirement she continued to cook for family and friends at her home on Bartlett Hill in Cambridge, VT and then in Milton, VT, where she and Bob moved to care for her mother Olive in 2016.
She loved to cook and entertain until a back injury made it difficult to stand and move without pain. Lorri was an avid reader and left an extensive collection of books. She also loved pets, adopting the neighborhood cat MoJo when she moved to Milton (or perhaps MoJo adopted her!)
Lorri is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Dunn, her sister Kelly Pottenburgh and her husband Dan Adorno of Jeffersonville, VT, her daughter Corey Decker of Fletcher, VT, her stepdaughter Krista Coolidge of Milton, VT, her Aunts Joan and Carol Ann of Garrison and Rhinebeck, NY (respectively), as well as friends and relatives in New York and New England. She is predeceased by her parents Olive and Roland Pottenburgh, her stepson Jay Robert Dunn, her aunt Pat Myron of Massachusetts, and most recently, her uncle Henry Turner of Garrison, NY.
Lorri passed away from an apparent heart attack early Tuesday morning September 15. Her cremains will be interred at the family plot in the Rhinebeck cemetery on a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lorri’s name to an animal welfare charity of choice.
