June 8, 1945 — July 30, 2025

St. Albans

Lloyds Reynolds Machia

Our dearly beloved brother decided on July 30th to walk in greener pastures and join our Mother and Father in Heaven.

He’s found a new body free of handicaps and difficulties and has been reunited with his younger brothers Robert Machia, Richard Machia, and Dennis Machia as well as grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins that had gone before him.

Born June 8th 1945 to Ralph Machia and Edna (Marion) Creller Machia, he was the oldest of his five siblings. His sisters Deborah A Corey of Roanoke VA and Donna Trainor of Tariffville CT will greatly miss his presence in their lives. He spent 80 years here on earth teaching others that it was the simple things of life that should be cherished. Family, Food, Gardening, animals, fishing and kids.

After many years of working with on a farm alongside his dad they were eventually able to return to Vermont. After the passing of his Mom and Dad he entered into Assisted Living at Holiday House where he enjoyed gardening, helping with the maintenance of the landscaping, and making sure the staffs cars were cleared out and ready to go in the winter. In 2015 he chose to move to Virginia with his sister. His final years were spent at Berkshire Health and Rehab in Vinton VA. He was known for being a big flirt and had no qualms about asking or telling everyone who took care of him that he’d marry them.

His wishes of having a wife, family and farm were never realized but it never stopped him from working hard, taking care of others, protecting those he loved and of course fishing. Being idle was not in his vocabulary. His gentle spirit taught his family that having a handicap just makes you see things as possibilities and not as limitations. Determination is 99% of the battle, and he was determined.

His sisters would like to thank the wonderful staff at Berkshire unit 3 for the love they showered him with each and every day. Big Pappa as he was known is still proposing to you all.

Casey, Alicia, Kelly, Mary Beth, Allynna, as well as all the CNA’s that we can’t even begin to mention. We’d hate to leave anyone of them out by name. Just know that we truly were blessed by your love and care.

On October 10th 2025 Lloyd will be placed with Mom and Dad at the Alburgh Center Cemetary in Alburgh VT at 11:00 with a Celebration of life following.
