Leon Dorey Rivers

L.Dorey Rivers 55 of South Burlington passed peacefully after a long illness on Sepember 29th. He leaves behind his wife Cristina and son James as well as his parents Donald and Margaret Rivers of Burlington. His siblings Jami ( Liam ) Bisson of St. Albans and Jill (Kevin) McCarthy of Milton New Hampshire. His two special uncles Albert (Kristin) Brunelle of Newport Beach CA., Jeffrey (Ginny) Wolcott of Sandy Hook CT. His aunts Lorene Butler of Colchester and Laurie Boomhower of Westford and several nieces and nephews.

Dorey attended schools in Middlebury and Burlington graduating from Burlington high school. He also attended Champlain College, then graduated from UVM with a degree in Computer Science. His computer skills were exceptional writing programs for reputable firms.

Although confined to a wheelchair his entire life, went on cruises to Alaska & Mexico. Also, traveled to Hawaii and the Philippines plus several trips to Las Vegas.

His favorite sports teams were the Boston Celtics and Red Sox, Dallas Cowboys, and Montreal Canadians. No matter how badly they performed he remained a dedicated fan.

A special thanks to the care he received from the UVM Medical Center, especially Dr. Ades in the cancer center.

Per Dorey's request there were no services. A private burial was held on October 4th.
