Jeanette Marie Mann

Grand Isle, VT--Jeanette Marie Mann, 77, passed away after a short illness on August 13, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Jeanette was born on September 23, 1943 in Jamaica, NY, the daughter of David and Adelaide Doner (Springer). She graduated from St. Joseph's Commercial High School in Brooklyn, New York. She met her husband, Kenneth, shortly after and they married on August 22, 1964. Through the years, their partnership took them from Iowa City, IA to Durham NC, St. Paul, MN and Rochester, MN. raising their four sons along the way. While devoting herself to the family and community, she used her administrative skills to help support her husband Ken's illustrious academic and professional career in clinical research. The family moved to Vermont in 1984 and lived in Shelburne until 1998, when she and Ken moved to Grand Isle. They also maintained a home in Atlantic Beach, FL during the winter months. Jeanette was wildly creative. She loved quilting with her numerous quilting groups; the Champlain Valley Quilt group, Island Quilters, and the Good Humor Girls. She enjoyed doing craft projects, and singing in the County Chorus. Jeanette had an enormous capacity to give of her time and talent, volunteering at the Champlain Islands food shelf and the Church Guild at St. Rose of Lima. She loved kayaking, travel, and her beloved beagles, Molly and Horton. She especially enjoyed time with her family and watching her children, grandchildren, and her proxy granddaughters, Rorie and Ryann Antonioli, grow and flourish. Jeanette is survived by: her husband of 57 years, Kenneth, her children and their spouses, Kevin and Amy Mann of Cazenovia, NY, Philip and Judith Mann of South Yarmouth, MA, David Mann and Jennifer Dykema of Madison, WI, and Stephen Mann and Susan Binns of Rumson, NJ; her grandchildren, Henry of Manhattan, NY, Charlie of Ithaca, NY, Christopher of Minneapolis, MN, and Julia of Madison, WI; and her sister, Margaret Shelton of Hampton, VA. She was especially close to her island neighbors, the McCray family, Ilyo and Carolyn, and their daughters, Margo, Kim, Becca and Margo's twin daughters, Rorie and Ryann. She is predeceased by her father, David Doner, and mother, Adelaide Doner, brother, David Doner Jr., and her nephew Joseph Tvelia. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 20, 4-6 pm in the Minor Funeral Home. Mass will be held on Saturday, August 21 at 10 am at St. Rose of Lima Church - Our Lady of the Lake Parish, followed by a reception at the church.
