Helen Potvin

March 11, 1949 — January 4, 2026

St. Albans

Helen Potvin, born on March 11, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away unexpectedly on January 4, 2026, at North West Medical Center. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, whose warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Helen dedicated much of her life to her career, working at Lane Press, Go Go Gas Station, and most notably at the Courtyard Cafe in Northwest Medical Center, where she brought joy to her coworkers and patrons alike. A proud graduate of Essex High School class of 1967 as part of the "triplets", she carried the lessons of hard work and perseverance with her throughout her life.

In her personal life, Helen had many interests and hobbies that brought her joy. She delighted in going antiquing, tending to her garden, and collecting furniture that told a story. A love for the outdoors found her basking in the sun's rays on warm beaches, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and happiness. She enjoyed watching and feeding her birds.

Helen was known for her particularity, especially in how she folded her laundry, a testament to her meticulous nature. Her good sense of humor and ability to joke around made her a beacon of light for family and friends. Her proudest accomplishments were her grandchildren, Sadie and Chase King, as well as her beloved late grand fur baby, Autumn. Helen's heart swelled with joy when surrounded by her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her daughter Heather King and her husband Billy; her grandchildren Sadie and Chase King; and her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Moss. Helen now joins her partner Dennis Rattee, Jr, her parents, Margaret (Nicholson) and Harold Moss; her brother James William Moss; and her sister Marilyn Powell, all of whom have passed away before her.

As we remember Helen Potvin, let us carry forward her spirit—her tenacity in the face of challenges, her quirky joys, and the love she had for her family. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, and those she touched will keep her legacy alive through the stories they share. A visitation will take place on January 17, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Minor Funeral and Cremation Center with a service to begin at Noon.
