Heather Jo Valyou

April 7, 1965 — December 15, 2021

Westford- Heather Jo Valyou, 56, of Westford- a beloved wife, mother, Mimi, daughter, sister, and friend of so many- was unexpectedly taken from us on December 15, 2021. Heather was born on April 7, 1965 in Burlington, VT, the daughter of Richard Johnson and Roberta (Turner). She married her high school sweetheart and best friend Corey Valyou on May 5th, 1985 at the United Church of Milton. Heather was in the midst of her 34th year of service to the Milton Town School District. She had worn many hats in Milton School System over the years, and was known by all as a passionate and dedicated worker, always putting the students and her peers first. She generously volunteered her time and energy for special projects, and was known for the creativity and care she funneled into everything she did. Heather loved Christmas time, the color green, camping, and gardening. She was well known at trying to incorporate math into everything, especially around her grandchildren, and it was customary for her to always have lotion for her hands and feet within reach. She loved to joke that her only three vices were potato chips, red wine, and french fries. She loved to travel and had been on two cross country road trip adventures with her husband, visiting 44 of the 50 states. She loved to bake, cook, and craft, and was well known at mastering any DIY project she put her mind to- from a crocheted Christmas ornament to a full kitchen redesign. She found joy in being the brains and creativity behind wood projects crafted by her husband that adorn so many households in not just her family, but in the whole community. Above all else, she was passionate about her family. She loved donning tiaras and boas and cutting loose with her YaYa sisterhood of sister-in-laws and mother-in-law. Her husband was her best friend, followed closely by her two loving daughters. Her grandsons were the pride of her life, and she was happiest to be called Mimi. She will always be remembered as the most humble, kind, selfless and patient person. She carried joy and love with her into every room she entered. She is survived by: her loving husband Corey; her daughters Meghan (Steven) Orisko of Westford and Sarah (Jacob) Taeckens of CA; her grandchildren Avery, Theodore, Louis, Jacob Jr. and grandbaby #5 (due in June); her Mother Roberta Johnson of Belvidere; her siblings Ray Johnson, of Belvidere Center, Richard Johnson, of Milton, and Sheri Johnson, of Waterville. She is also remembered by her mother-in-law Faith Valyou and an extensive line of much loved brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her father, Richard Johnson, her father-in-law Wesley Valyou, and her brother/sister-in-law Jon and Lisa Valyou. Visiting Hours for her celebration of life will be held at Minor's Funeral Home on Tuesday February 22, 2-5pm, followed by a brief service at 5pm. Her family asks you to please wear something green in honor of her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Heather J Valyou Memorial Scholarship via Venmo @HValyouScholarship or mail a check to the family.
