Hailey Cheyenne Colyer

Hailey Cheyenne Colyer, 24, of Milton, passed away on May 8, 2025. She was born on June 1, 2000, to David Anthony Colyer and HarmonyJo Lee [Hollingsworth] Daley.

Hailey had a heart as big as her personality, always ready to help someone in need—even if it meant giving the shirt off her back. Known for her honesty and wit, Hailey never shied away from telling it like it is. Her fierce, outspoken nature had a way of lifting spirits and making others feel seen. She completed high school with honors while living independently from her family and largely supporting herself.

If you were around her, you were smiling—whether you wanted to or not. She had that kind of energy: funny, persistent, and full of life. She wouldn’t let you stay down for long. Just being with her pulled you into the moment, where nothing else mattered but her sky-blue eyes and that unforgettable smile. Behind all of that was a fighter—a strong soul who didn’t take nonsense and wasn’t afraid to show you where the line was. But even if she was mad at you, she’d still jump in front of a bus to protect you. That’s just who she was. Her loyalty ran deep, and her friends became family. To her incredible circle—thank you. You loved her fiercely, just like we did, and we are so grateful you were always there.

A devoted animal lover, Hailey had a soft spot for all creatures, great and small. She also found joy and expression through music, with a taste that spanned from post-hardcore emo to rap and everything in between.

Behind those sky-blue eyes and that radiant, unstoppable smile lived a quiet warrior—one most never saw coming. She had fire in her, a strength that could draw the line in an instant… but just as quickly, she’d throw herself in harm’s way to protect the people she loved, even in anger. That was her heart—bold, stubborn, and fiercely loyal.

Since she was stolen from us, so many who crossed her path after her return to Vermont in 2012 have spoken of that same deep loyalty and love. And when she came back home again this past November, she was determined to grow, to heal, and to build something better. Even when life was messy, her friends and family stood by her—not because things were perfect, but because her soul was good and her heart always tried to make things right.

Hailey is survived by her loving mother, HarmonyJo Lee Daley; her father, David Colyer; her siblings, Sydney Bowles, Christopher Colyer and his partner Melissa Cote, and Dakoda Yates; her nephew, Theodore Colyer; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Visiting hours will be held in honor of “Hailey’s Day” on her birthday at the Minor Funeral Home and Cremation Center on June 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Immediately afterward, a committal service will take place at the Milton Village Cemetery.

To her friends, our neighbors, the people who helped raise her, and those who became her chosen family—thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for seeing her, standing by her, and loving her just as we did.
