George was born on June 10, 1927 in Essex Junction, VT, the son of Clarence and Martha (Pecor) Hubbard. George was a WWII Veteran. He was inducted into the Army on August 15, 1945 and although the war officially ended on September 2, 1945 he was sent to Furth, Germany attached to the 531st Ordnance Tank Maintenance Company.  He served as an automotive mechanic tasked with major repairs of all types of army vehicles during the cleanup effort after the war.   Later he worked as a civil servant at Fort Ethan Allen Air Base as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator until the base closed.  He was employed by Vermont Heating & Ventilating Co.  in 1965 initially as a truck driver and advanced to a sheet metal professional.

In his earlier years, George enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and competing in horseshoe competitions (which earned him many trophies).  In retirement, he spent time volunteering and being active with the Milton Senior Center.  In his old age, he enjoyed watching Nascar racing, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and spending time with his brother, Richard’s family.   He was very fond of his niece, Kris Hubbard, who compassionately assisted him.

He was also predeceased by his loving companion of over 20 years, Rita Martell.
