Gary "Sam" Robert Broe, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on February 9, 2024. Born on September 8, 1952, in Burlington, Vermont, Sam led a life filled with love and touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Sam graduated from BFA Fairfax in 1972, beginning a lifelong journey marked by dedication and hard work. He joined Velan Valve and became an integral part of their team, forging deep and lasting friendships along the way. Sam's commitment to his work was matched only by his loyalty to those around him. His coworkers became like family to him as he fostered relationships that spanned decades.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Sam will remember him for his warm personality and unwavering loyalty. If you we lucky enough to be considered his friend, you were undoubtedly considered family. His kindness knew no bounds as he selflessly extended a helping hand whenever it was needed. Sam's caring nature made an indelible impact on the lives he touched.

Outside of work and during his retirement, Sam found solace in various hobbies and interests. One of his greatest joys was smoking meat—a skill he proudly shared with friends and family during countless gatherings. He also cherished moments spent fishing, finding tranquility in the stillness of nature. Additionally, Sam enjoyed wood working alongside his dear friend Dave Day and spent many delightful hours perfecting their craft together. But above all else, he was an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox and faithfully followed their every game throughout the season.

In his personal life, Sam was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife Ann Broe, who shared in the joyous moments and supported him during challenging times. Together they built a strong foundation rooted in love and understanding that will continue to inspire those around them. Sam's love and admiration of his "Annie" was endless.

Sam leaves behind two children who brought immeasurable happiness to his life—Craig and his wife Molly, and Samantha Broe. He was a dedicated and loving father who instilled in his children values of compassion, resilience, and determination. This was evident in his "coaching career" of little league and softball. Sam's genuine love for his grandchildren—Lyle, Gabriel, and Ophelia—knew no bounds. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in watching them grow.

Sam will also be greatly missed by his brother Greg and his partner Cindy, as well as his sister-in-laws Vicky,  Laurie, Pat Broe, Kathy Murray, and husband Mike. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his brother-in-law Roy Raymond, brother-in-law John Cross, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sam is reunited in eternal peace with his parents Nellie and Reginald Broe Sr., as well as his siblings Reginald, Jr., Jeffrey, Bert, Michael, and Eleanor. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who loved them.

The celebration of Sam's life will take place at Fletcher Grange in Fletcher on February 17, 2024. The service will commence at 11:00 am and offer an opportunity for all who knew him to come together to share their memories and find solace in one another's presence. It will truly be a testament to the impact he had on so many lives. The Celebration of Life attendees are encouraged to wear Red Sox attire and will be pot luck.

The legacy Sam leaves behind is one of kindness, love, and unwavering support. His absence will undoubtedly be deeply felt by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we gather to celebrate his life, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and honor him by carrying on his legacy of love and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity for the betterment of Vermont Fish and Wildlife.

As we bid farewell to Gary "Sam" Robert Broe—a kind, loving, and caring person—let us find comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will forever remain with us. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his love will continue to guide and inspire us all.
