It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Edward "Ed" F. Metivier on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at his home with his wife Veronica by his side and the age of 77. Born in Burlington, VT on May 9, 1948, to Andrew and Madeline Metivier, one of fifteen children. Ed struggled with failing health over the last 5 years, but always had a smile on his face and a witty humor.

Ed worked for the University of Vermont College, in the Grounds & Maintenance department for 34 years until his retirement in June of 2012. After his retirement he went back to UVM and worked part-time in the summers until 2019.

Ed and his wife Veronica were avid campers especially loving the Lake Eden Campground, Lake George area and Wells Beach, Maine. He liked ice fishing and hunting with his brothers. He also loved shopping in the big malls in New Hampshire. His favorite time of year was Christmas especially because that was when his family would gather to celebrate. He had a very giving way about him.

He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Veronica, and his two children Elizabeth Metivier from Essex Junction and Emily Metivier from Portland, Oregon and his stepson Daniel Brigham (Katey) from Austin, Texas. He leaves behind his sisters Shirley Ward (Dave), Sally Desautels and brother Michael (Kathy) and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the UVM Health Network, Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Ed. Special thanks to his nurse Sarah, his LPN Kenisha and all the other helping hands during this difficult time.

A celebration of life for Ed will be announced at a later date.
