Edward Cote, 103, passed away on August 20, 2026. Born on June 17, 1923, to Aristide and Mary (Mossey) Cote, he was raised in Milton, Vermont, where he grew up on his family’s farm.
A hardworking man throughout his life, Ed gave his all to any job he took on. Eventually, he opened his own business, Cote’s Garage in Georgia, Vermont. His strong work ethic and ability to fix and tinker with just about anything stayed with him throughout his life.
Ed was happiest when he was keeping busy. He loved puttering on lawnmowers, mowing his lawn, teaching his grandchildren his skills, and snow blowing in the winter. Even the simplest projects brought him enjoyment, especially when they gave him the opportunity to work with his hands.
Those who knew Ed will remember him as an incredibly patient and kind-hearted man. He had a wonderful sense of humor that could always put a smile on someone’s face. He loved a good joke and was just as happy telling a good story, often leaving those around him laughing and smiling.
Above all, Ed will be remembered for the warmth, kindness, humor, and steady presence he brought to the lives of those who loved him. Reaching the remarkable age of 103, he leaves behind more than a century of memories, stories, and a legacy that his family will treasure for generations.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Letourneau and her significant other, Terry; Debbie Wimble and her husband, David; Aleta Decker; and Dawna Beyor and her husband, Doug; his daughters-in-law, Wanda Mossey and Michelle Mossey and her significant other, Chris; along with many very special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to his life. He also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends.
Ed has now been reunited with the loved ones who went before him, including his mother and father; his beloved wife of 47 years, Marjorie Cote; his sons, Jimmy Cote, Alan Mossey, Irving Mossey, and Mark Mossey; his daughters, Cheryl and Theresa Cote; his son-in-law, Chris Letourneau; and his grandsons, Jess Wimble and Alan Mossey II, his great grandson Jordan Wimble.
Ed lived a long and remarkable life, but to those who loved him, no amount of time could ever feel like enough. His stories, his jokes, his patience, and his kind heart will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
