Edith Marie Saxon

February 19, 1929 — October 21, 2023

South Hero

Edith Marie Saxon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, at McClure Miller Respite House. Edith was 94 years old.

Born on February 19, 1929, in New York City to Wilhelm and Anna Bischoff, Edith grew up in the bustling streets of Brooklyn. She carried her Brooklyn accent throughout her life—an endearing reminder of her roots. Edith was proud of her German heritage and delighted those around her with her exceptional cooking skills, often preparing dishes that reflected her cultural background.

Edith had a zest for life and a passion for many things. She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed immersing herself in the world of mystery novels. Edith's appreciation for music led her to join the bell choir at the Congregational Church of South Hero—a hobby she cherished. Edith enjoyed her vacations at the beach or by the ocean, where she found solace and joy.

Known for her impeccable taste and love for accessorizing, Edith had a flair for fashion. She adored dressing up and had an extensive collection of beautiful jewelry. The bigger the earrings, the better—she would often say with a radiant smile on her face.

Edith's warm heart and caring nature extended to both family and friends alike. She touched many lives with her kindness and generosity. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her children: Steven Ziegler, Wendy Moore and her husband William, Lori Wilson and her husband Bruce, Mark Saxon and his wife Jennifer. Edith also leaves behind a legacy through her 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irwin Eugene Saxon, her son Eric Saxon, a granddaughter Melinda Saxon and her two brothers, Hans Bischoff and Rolf Bischoff. They will be reunited once again in eternal peace.

The family invites friends and loved ones to honor Edith's memory at the Visitation event on October 30, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, held at Minor Funeral and Cremation Center located at 237 Route US-7, Milton, VT 05468.

A Funeral Service will be held on October 31, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Congregational Church of South Hero situated at 24 South St, South Hero, VT 05486.
