Obituary of Douglas Clark Pierson


Douglas Clark Pierson, 84 of Jupiter, Florida and Grand Isle, Vermont, died unexpectedly on August 18, 2016 of heart complications.
Doug was born and raised in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. He was the son of James and Ruth ( Binzen ) Pierson.
He graduated from Glen Ridge High School, Cornell and Cornell Law School.
He was married to Pat ( Milligan ) Pierson, who he first met in the third grade. They would have been married for 62 years in September. They had four children, Ruthann Dodge, Douglas Clark Jr.(Maura), Grace Patricia and James Topping (Sarah), nine grandchildren Jacquelyn Patricia Harlow, Jakeesea, Donnell, Janelle, Devyn, Douglas Clark III ( Kerry ), Patricia Lee, James Willis and Emily Jane Pierson and five great grandchildren.
He was also survived by his brother James W. Pierson, his sisters Ann Bath and Barbara Wilkins. He was predeceased by a sister Jane Swanton.
Doug was a founding member of the Pierson Wadhams Quinn Yates and Coffrin Law firm in Burlington, where he was still practicing at his time of death. In Florida, he was a town councilman for 12 years where he was vice mayor and head of the building committee.
Doug dearly loved his family, his friends, gardening, tennis, the practice of law and his dog Barbie.

Doug was greatly loved and admired and will be greatly missed.
