Milton, VT--Douglas Allen Cain, 71, passed away after a long fought illness on August 5, 2021 at McClure Miller Respite House. Douglas was born on July 29, 1950 in Winooski, VT, the Son of Harold Cain and Dorothy (Poland) Woods. He married Catherine Blanchard on June 9, 1990 in Johnstown, NY. Douglas was a truck driver for many years for Georgia-Pacific and New Penn. He is survived by: his wife and sweetheart of 31 years; his oldest son, Kevin Cain, and children, Alexis and Nicholas Cain of Milton; his youngest son, Austin Cain, partner Miriah Leo and children, Graham and Bennett Cain of Swanton; his siblings, Robert Cain, of WV, Ronald (Susan) Tallman, of Groton, James (Gloria) Farnham, of Morrisville, Rhoda Gage, of NY, and Linda Pellerin of FL. He is predeceased by his father, Harold Cain; mother, Dorothy Woods; sister-in-law, Jane Cain; and brother, David Tallman. Douglas lived a life full of adventure and was always the life of the party! He enjoyed being outdoors, from hunting at his deer camp that he built from the ground up, to riding his Harley motorcycle across state lines. Douglas fulfilled many things on his bucket list, from scuba-diving in Lake Champlain and the Caribbean, to stepping foot in 40+ states, and teaching the entire family how to ski. Anyone who knew Douglas was so lucky to have him as a friend, as he was the most giving person who would offer the shirt off his back to anyone in need. As much as Douglas loved his life full of adventure, he loved being home with his family even more. He was so proud of his grandchildren and took any opportunity he could to brag about them, and even show off pictures. They were his entire world, and would make all of their dreams come true! Douglas will be truly missed by so many, but his stories will live on! Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minor Funeral Home in Milton, VT. A family led service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
