It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Donald Peter “Pete” Muller on November 25, 2024, at Maple Ridge Memory Care. Pete was a generous person who filled many roles: a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. His beautiful life began on January 9, 1940, in Malden, Massachusetts, son of Donald W. Muller and Anna K. Muller, who predeceased him.
Peter began his career at General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts where he completed an apprentice program. In 1969, he moved his reluctant family to Vermont. After 6 months the family never regretted the move and Pete began a 32-year career with IBM, retiring in 2001. His passion for technology was evident, and he embraced every opportunity to learn and grow within the field. Beyond his professional pursuits, Peter served his country honorably, enlisting in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961. This was a decision that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and discipline.
On January 26, 1963, Peter married the love of his life, Joyce Elaine Muller, in Lynn, Massachusetts. Together, they began their lifelong adventure of nearly 62 years. His family was his greatest joy, and he instilled the importance of family onto his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Peter’s laughter, wisdom, and gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Pete and Joyce traveled extensively with family and friends. There are numerous humorous and heart-warming stories about their trips to trips to Hawaii, Aruba and Disney. Pete and Joyce loved Disney so much, they became members of the Disney Vacation Club in 1992. It became a constant enjoyable destination for years with many family trips. These entertaining trips passed their love of Disney onto their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Peter is survived by his cherished wife, Joyce Elaine Muller, with whom he shared 62 years of countless memories and adventures. Their love was a foundation for their family, and together they raised three wonderful children: Beth Muller Nichols and her husband Thomas; David Muller and his wife Tracey Tobin; Donald Eric Muller and his wife Dawn; 9 grandchildren: Zachary (Casie), Samantha (Kevin), Ashleigh (Scott), Michelle (TJ), Chelsea, Brook (AJ), Brandon (Jessica), Nathan and Faith; and 9 great Grandchildren: Connor, Callyn, Morgan, Keegan, Rory, Cole, Sophia, Tiauna and Ryker.
