On Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, David Allen Metivier went to heaven to fly with his son Shawn. Born on December 22nd, 1951, Dave passed in the early morning hours after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Dave worked for Winooski School District for 34 years as the Head of Buildings and Grounds. After he retired from Winooski, he worked for Apple Island Resort and then for his son’s business, Curb Appeal Property Maintenance. He was always puttering around the house doing something and working to make our house a home.
He leaves behind is loving wife and best friend Sandra, his three sons, David L. Metivier (Carmen), Dana A. Metivier (Denise) and Chad Metivier. He was predeceased by his son Shawn on 11/25/2024 after a long illness. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Kaila, Austin, Megan, Jaime and Humberto. His sisters Shirley Ward (Dave), Sally Desautels, brother Edward (Veronica) and Michael (Kathy) and many nieces and nephews.
Dave and Sandra loved to go camping, starting in a tent, then a pop-up and a small self-contained camper. As the kids grew up and weren't as interested in camping and busy with school activities they took a break, but in 2010 they bought a 5th wheel and parked it in Wells, Maine as a summer home for many years. They had always hoped to travel to all 50 states with that camper, but sadly it was not meant to be.
He was an avid ice fisherman and hunter. He was a master of all trade. There was nothing he wasn't afraid to tackle.
A committal ceremony will be held at sea for both David and his beloved son Shawn on July 30th, 2025, which would have been Shawn’s 44th birthday.
