Essex, VT- Christina (Hebert) Ryder, 87, passed away peacefully December 14, 2022 Christina was born on September 20, 1935, in Northfield, VT, the daughter of Donat Hebert and Beatrice (Jerry) Hebert. At the age of 18 she joined the Navy, where she met Franklin Ryder, whom she married on April 2, 1956, in San Diego, CA. Tina and Frank spent just shy of 60 years as husband and wife, before his passing in 2016. Together during her husband's military service, they spent time stationed across the US. Upon Frank's retirement from the Navy in 1966, they settled in Essex. Tina spent most of her working life in the food service. She started in the Essex school system, then was employed by Marriott Food Service at UVM, where she remained until her retirement. In her retirement, she began serving the Parish, St Pius X, where she was a parishioner for over 50 years. Tina was an avid bingo player, enjoyed reading and working in her flower gardens. She was a sports fan but really enjoyed NASCAR and never missed a race. She is survived by her daughters, Beatrice Wright and husband Gerald of Fletcher, Doreen Kilburn and husband Bruce of Fairfax and Mary Donaldson and husband Gary of Hinesburg; her 8 grandchildren; Joseph Wright, Elizabeth Giroux, Christopher Wright, Michael Wright, Melissa Kilburn, Eric Kilburn, Shane Donaldson and Rebecca Donaldson and 7 great-grandchildren, whom she loved to spend time with. Her brothers, Bernard Hebert of Maryland, Daniel Hebert of Kentucky and Arnold Hebert of New Hampshire. She is predeceased by her husband, Franklin Ryder, parents; Donat and Beatrice (Jerry) Hebert; sisters, Vivian DeCoteau and Velma Baker and bother, Norbert Hebert. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, 11 AM at St Pius X church in Essex, VT. A committal service will take place later in the spring of 2023 at Mountain View Cemetery in Essex, VT.
