Bruce H. Poquette, 87, passed away at home on Friday, January 30th, 2026.
He began his life in North Hero, VT. When he was small, his family moved to Burlington, where he lived for the rest of his life.
Bruce graduated with the Class of 1956 from Cathedral High School in Burlington, VT. He continued his education and graduated with the Class of 1959 from Champlain College in Burlington. Then he pursued a career in administration at GE and IBM.
Bruce was a devoted Roman Catholic and member at Christ the King parish, which includes St. Anthony's. He would greet you at the door as you entered.
Bruce was considered the Genealogy expert of the family. His life long passion over 30 years was trying to verify the DNA lineage, which began when our relatives arrived in New France (Quebec) in the early 1600's. Bruce would visit local cemeteries as well as some in Northern Clinton County. He would go through Parish records when available.
He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races.
Bruce was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by whose lives he touched. Bruce is survived by special cousins, Donny (Cheryl) Dodds, Bradley Dodds, Kyle Dodds, Rodney Cross, and Teresa Poquette. He was predeceased by his father, Homer Poquette in 1987 and his mother, Angie (Dubuque) Poquette in 2001.
Special thanks to Tom Buley for all of his help.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 at 12 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church in South Hero, VT with burial to follow in the Spring. There will be no calling hours.
