February 22, 1942 — March 11, 2022

Obituary of Bruce Frederick Jacobs Murrells Inlet, SC- Bruce Frederick Jacobs, 80, passed away March 11, 2022 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. Bruce was born on February 22, 1942 in Brockton, MA, the son of George Jacobs and Norma (Robbins). He attended Brockton, MA Trade School where he won an national tooling competition. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, enlisting in August of 1960, and served honorably for four years as airman first class. He moved to Vermont in 1965 to take a job in the construction industry and to raise his family. Bruce became known as a tough and successful business man during his many years as a contractor, both with The Bader Company in Burlington, Vermont and later as the owner of Don-Vac, Inc. in Williston, Vermont, while also raising his two girls on his own. He married the love of his life, Gail Meddaugh, on August 11, 2007 at their home in North Hero, Vermont. In 2009, after many years of hard work, he enthusiastically embraced retirement and enjoyed his time traveling with his wife, family vacations, playing solitaire on his phone, raking leaves and riding on his lawn mower. His heart will always remain in North Hero by the lake, where he loved boating and watching his grandchildren swim. He last enjoyed a cruise with his children and grandchildren in February of this year, where we celebrated his 80th birthday, with love and laughter. He loved his family dearly and was always there to lend a hand to anyone who may have needed it, but not without a little bit of sarcasm and witty humor first. He will be dearly missed by his family, many friends and his dogs, Maxfield and Bentley, whom he enjoyed walking everyday. He is survived by: his wife, Gail and his children, Suzanne Jacobs, of CA, and Darla Coleman and husband Michael of TX; His grandchildren, Jacob Aronowicz, Megan Aronowicz, Marissa Coleman, Emily Coleman, and Rebecca Coleman. His great grandson, Finn Aronowicz. His step children, Audrey Ward of SC, Tanya Barber and husband Darin of VT, Jason Burachowski of SC. His step-grandchildren, Olivia Spence, Sophia Bombard and husband Justin, Emily Fitzgerald and husband Tyler, Lindsey Barber, Samuel Burachowski, Ethan Burachowski, and Abigail Burachowski. His step great grandchildren, Addalyn and Avery Bombard, and Aria Fitzgerald. His brother, Lee Jacobs and wife Judy of RI. He is predeceased by his parents, George Jacobs and Norma Robbins of MA, his sister Anne Jacobs and his mother in law and father in law George and Audrey Meddaugh.
