BETTY DESSO formerly of Essex Junction, VT passed away June 17, 2021 in Crestview, FL. Betty born April 2, 1934 in Berkshire, VT, the daughter of Ward and Marjorie (Murphy) Thompson. Betty attended schools in Burlington, VT. After marrying on Dec 19, 1953 she and husband Bud Desso moved to Columbus Ohio where he was stationed in the Airforce. They returned to VT in May of 1958 where they raised their family in the same home in Essex that Bud was born in. He retired from the Air National Guard and he and Betty traveled the country and visited family. She enjoyed her last few years with her daughter's family in Florida. Betty is predeceased by husband Harlow "Bud" Desso. They were married 48 years. She is also predeceased by her brothers William Thompson, Richard Thompson, and John Thompson along with brothers and sisters in-law Norwood and Elizabeth Koonce, Thomas Mahoney, Raymond & Mae Lamore, and Lillian Desso. She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Carney and husband Paul of Crestview, FL, Barbara Viens and husband Donald of Winter Garden, FL, and Virginia Barrett and husband Richard of Security, CO; seven grandchildren, Jason Carney and wife Diane, Jeffrey Carney and wife Jeannette, Jeremy Carney and wife Gretchen, Michelle Hodgson and husband Eric, Nichole Foster and husband Raul, Kenneth Barrett and wife Brianna, and Stephanie Barrett and fiancé Daniel, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Harley and Tristen, Isabella, Rory and Alice, Evan and Emma, Sosuke, and Ophelia. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert Thompson and wife Phylis, and Dwight Thompson and wife Georgia, sister-in-law Geralene Thompson, brother-in-law Gerald Desso and partner Joann Bushey, sister-in-law Marilyn Mahoney and in-laws Joanne and Charles Myers also many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 25th from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the chapel of The Minor Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 237 Route 7 South, Milton, VT. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 26th at 10:00 a.m. in The Minor Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Essex Jct., VT.
