Barbara Helen Williams passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, in Burlington, Vermont, after a short period of declining health. Born on September 24, 1949, in Red Bank, New Jersey, Barbara grew up in Upstate New York on the banks of the St. Lawrence River.
After graduating from Madrid-Waddington High School, Barb pursued additional secretarial training and moved to Vermont. While working in the office at Champlain Cable, she met her husband, Larry Williams. She enjoyed the independence of working and spent the majority of her career in the health insurance field. A lifelong resident of Georgia, VT, she also gave back to her community by volunteering on the Georgia Planning Commission.
She was creative and enjoyed a variety of mediums, including macrame and scrapbooking, but was especially fond of knitting and crocheting. She created many afghans, baby blankets and changing pads for her co-workers, friends, and family over the years. Barb will be remembered for her girlish sense of humor, supportive friendship, and kindness.
Barb is survived by her daughter, Misty Williams, and her husband, Dean Goss; her beloved grandson, Orin Goss; her sister Deborah Trimm; her sisters-in-law Nina Williams, Judy Williams, Elizabeth Martell, Christine Williams, and Judy Beehner and her husband Richard; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, William (Tom) Thomas Ryan, Sr., and Dolly LaBombard; her brother, William (Bill) Thomas Ryan, Jr.; and her husband, Larry Williams.
A burial service to honor Barb’s life will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Main Street in Isle Lamotte, Vermont, at a later date. We invite all who wish to celebrate her at that time. In place of flowers, consider a seemingly small, random act of kindness. It really does make a difference.
