Anna (Ann) May Sibley Poulin
1 Jan 1947 - 11 May 2026
Ann was born in Burlington Vermont on January 1, 1947. She later moved to Vergennes where she graduated from Vergennes High School in 1965. In January 1967, she began her career working for IBM in Essex Junction where she met and later married Dolor (Sonny) Poulin in 1980. Both she and Sonny retired from their careers at IBM and in 1994, moved to North Carolina. They made lasting friends with their neighbors Wanda and Travis and enjoyed many motorcycle rides in the warmer weather. In 2004, they moved to Tennessee where they stayed until Sonny’s passing in 2023, after 43 beautiful years together. Ann then moved back to her home state of Vermont to be closer to family.
Ann (Nana) enjoyed putting puzzles together with Sonny, was an excellent baker, seamstress and most of all played a ruthless game of cribbage. But her biggest hobby was spending time with her family. These past few years have brought so much joy to our family. Having Nana back home afforded us many many dozens of her infamous donuts, far too many lost hands of cards and mostly, memories. Thursday’s quickly became “Nana Night”, where the table was full of family and great times. Even though I am her only child, we all know her favorite was her great-granddaughter Charlie Ann. That little girl brought so much joy to Nana every day and was the light of her life.
This past year Nana has been on a cancer journey. She lived with her cancer daily, endured the side effects of chemotherapy and continued on despite her disease and the burdens it carried. She enjoyed family, outings, a river cruise, birthdays and company with long-time friends. Her cancer journey has ended, our hearts hurt for now - we have our memories, her cookbook so we can make donuts and each other to keep her alive, to remember the joy and ease our broken hearts.
Mom was deeply loved by her daughter Jean and her husband John Kleptz. Nana is forever remembered by her granddaughter Angela and her husband Ken Benward; her grandson Benjamin Kleptz and his partner Abby Pandow; her great-granddaughter Charlie Ann and great-grandson Henry. She cherished some very special people: Mike, Kathy, Ryan, Paul, Debbie, Sue, Wanda, Travis, Donna, Art, Wendy and Karen.
Calling hours will be at the Minor Funeral Home 237 Route 7S, Milton, VT on May 21st, 2026 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Ann will be laid to rest beside Sonny at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
My deepest gratitude goes out to the UVM Oncology Team: Dr Martell, Dr Amy, Nurse Mackenzie and Michaela; the UVM home hospice team: all the Sarah’s, Stephanie, Jill and especially Robert; and to McClure Miller Respite House team - you all were a part of this journey with my Mom, sharing your knowledge, compassion, kindness, expertise, and respect.
