Allan H. Mackenzie, born on April 8, 1943, in Barre, Vermont, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at the McClure Miller Respite House after a period of declining health. His life was a tapestry woven with hard work, dedication, and a profound love for family and the simple joys found in nature.

Allan’s career journey was marked by both industry and entrepreneurship. He began his professional life working at IBM, where his dedication was evident. He later became the proud owner of Maclean Sweep, a cleaning business he expertly managed for over 30 years. Additionally, Allan was employed by Champlain Valley Food, where he took great pleasure in his route through the Mad River Valley, reflecting his deep connection to the communities he served.

Education played an important role in Allan’s life. He earned an associate’s degree from Champlain College, a testament to his commitment to learning and self-improvement. He instilled this into his children who all attended college themselves.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Allan's passions filled his life with joy and purpose. As the treasurer of the Franklin County Bee Keeper Club and a member of the Vermont Beekeepers Association (VTBA), he nurtured a love for nature and the meticulous care of bees. In his younger years, Allan delighted in fishing and hunting, finding refuge and peace at his camp. He was known to relish his therapeutic lawn mowing, often spending up to twelve hours on this humble pleasure. His affection for the state of Maine and its many attractions was well-known among family and friends. The beloved new tractor was a source of ongoing pride and happiness, and the treasured camp time in Brandon brought him moments of peace and connection. Simple yet sweet indulgences like marshmallow Peeps and black jelly beans were among the little joys that brightened his days. Allan cherished his family time deeply, a reminder of his honesty and love intertwined.

Allan was a generous man whose kindness and warmth left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Janet (Martinetti) Mackenzie; his children Wendy Mackenzie and her husband Matthew Langham, John Mackenzie and his wife April, Christine Mackenzie-Johnson and her husband Cort, and Allan Eric Mackenzie and his wife Karen.
